GORILLA TREKKING FILM (UGANDA)
One Health Productions (OHP) drives the need for new gorilla trekking film and mandatory use of face masks at all gorilla tourism sites
In partnership with Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH), the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP), Founder of One Health Productions (OHP), Allison C. Hanes and her team have completed the production of a new gorilla trekking film for all gorilla trekking sites in Uganda. The "Gorilla Trekking Film (Uganda)" is based off her research and recommendations in the publication - Assessment of Health Risks Posed by Tourists Visiting Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda - provided below. The paper, film and associated resources are all available to download on this page allowing tourists to view and read the materials before leaving their country of origin. The film includes IUCN Best Practice Great Ape Tourism Guidelines and clarifies new protocols set in place since the recent Covid-19 global pandemic, including mandatory use of face masks. We encourage the film to be used before embarking to Africa and that travel agencies, travel clinics, airlines, lodges and all tourism partners use it widely. The film will also be used at UWA briefing points immediately before trekking.

We also advise that you take the Gorilla Friendly Pledge!
The information aims to prepare any tourist for their gorilla trekking experience. It includes not just gorilla health facts but what to expect, pack and get excited about. If you need help downloading the information provided or have any questions please email One Health Productions at info@onehealthproductions.com and we are sure to answer your questions.

We'd like to thank our generous anonymous executive producer, Dr. Russell Mittermeier and all his staff at Re:wild and Primate Action Fund for their generous support and donation as well as Conservation International for their fiscal sponsorship. None of this would be possible otherwise.

We encourage everyone to share as much of this information as much as possible and to take the Gorilla Friendly Pledge. And we'd like to acknowledge and thank all the dozens of organizations that work daily to protect mountain gorillas and humans from disease transmission, making this once in a lifetime experience all the more safe and fulfilling.
